Healthcare Security Requires an Experienced
Understanding of its Unique Demands
The world of healthcare is becoming more complex and challenging every day. Senergy works closely with hospitals
to design, install and service professional security systems that maximize security efficiencies and performance, and that
are scalable and cost effective.
Key Security Trends Impacting Healthcare Facilities

Physical Threats
Staff, patients and even visitors often fall victim to unprovoked emotional outbursts and violent physical attacks when tensions rise.

Increasing Theft
Drugs, prescription meds and resalable medical equipment are high-value targets for theft. Oxycodone and hydrocodone account for 57.7% of stolen drugs.

Unauthorized Access
Hospitals and clinics with outdated or poorly
managed access control systems leave patients, staff, and sensitive data vulnerable. Security breaches are inevitable.
We Keep Hospitals Safe with Intrusion Detection, Access Control, Surveillance Monitoring & Concealed Weapons Systems
Letʼs explore your security options.

On-Premise Access Control Systems
On premise access control is typically best suited for large institutions and high-risk industries subject to strict regulatory compliance, such as government agencies, law enforcement, critical infrastructure, public safety, education and healthcare facilities.
Benefits
- On-site physical servers ensure all information and data are
safely contained on your property. - Helps mitigate potential security breaches from external
sources. - Your organizationʼs IT team maintains total control over
system architecture and security settings. - Closely monitor system updates and diagnostics.

Growing Violence and Theft in Hospitals and Other Healthcare
Facilities is a Growing Concern for Staff and Administrators
Did You Know?…
Healthcare workers are 5x more susceptible to workplace violence than in other sectors.
40% of nurses surveyed said they have witnessed a dramatic increase in violence in hospitals.
10–20% of mobile assets are lost or stolen, and medication theft may cost up to $164 million annually.
U.S. healthcare workers account for 73% of all nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses due to violence.
We Take Hospital Security Personally – You Should Too
Because when things go wrong, your staff needs life-saving security options literally within reach.

Unified Integrated Platform
Unify your security operations within a single open-source platform that connects access control, communications systems, video surveillance, alarms to prompt quicker response times and help coordinate response efforts.

One-Touch Panic Button Alarm
Duress panic buttons empower healthcare staff with the ability to instantly report a crisis before anybody gets hurt. Activate from a lanyard, mobile phone, computer keyboard, or wall unit.

Emergency Lockdown
When there isn’t a second to waste and your staff and patients are in imminent danger, take control of the situation by activating an emergency lockdown alarm from the convenience of your phone or badge.
Smarter Security for Hospital Emergency Departments
Weapons detection systems are increasingly being deployed at ED entrances to minimize violent assaults with a weapon. Specialized low-profile sensor devices such as HALO are also gaining traction—giving hospitals critical situational awareness without violating patient privacy with security cameras. HALO can detect aggressive behavior, gunshots, spoken keywords, vape usage, and monitor occupancy in key areas of the building. If a security breach is detected, your staff is notified in real time.

Questions?
We Have Answers
Do hospitals have vape detectors?
Hospitals are increasingly installing “vape” detectors in sensitive areas of the hospital where privacy is an issue. But “vape” sensors do a lot more than simply detect vape smoke. For instance, the Halo Smart Sensor also detects cigarette smoke and THC, sound of a gunshot, glass breaking, aggressive voices, sudden movement, and monitor occupancy (people) in waiting rooms and other crowded areas.
Do nurses and doctors have panic buttons?
Hospitals are more frequently issuing panic or duress buttons to staff, generally in the form of a mobile phone app or a special badge attached to their scrubs, lab coat or other article of clothing. Healthcare staff can activate the panic buttons from anywhere in the building or parking lot, which then sends a distress signal to appropriate hospital personnel, including local law enforcement, requesting emergency assistance. The alert signal is silent so attention is not drawn to the person activating the duress button. Duress buttons are also mounted on walls, under count tops, and can be activated by the stroke of a computer keyboard.
What are the best security cameras for a hospital?
Hospitals and other healthcare facilities like assisted living and walk-in clinics, use a variety of security cameras depending on needs. PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) security cameras are often used outside in parking lots or elsewhere on hospitals grounds. 360 degree dome cameras are used throughout healthcare facilities, as are bullet security cameras and even security cameras with infrared and license plate recognition capabilities. Two major manufacturers of security cameras for hospitals are Axis and Avigilon. Both are high end professional security surveillance cameras with the latest in AI intelligent camera analytics.
Do hospitals have metal detectors that can detect guns and knives?
Some hospitals use traditional metal detectors, or hand wands, which are not specifically designed to detect weapons, but rather, sound an alert when any type of metal object is detected, including keys and some phones. Because of this, metal detectors are not the best choice if your goal is to specifically detect firearms. The Evolv Express concealed weapons detection system is specifically designed to identify firearms by their size, dimension and metal composition. The Evolv system, which more and more hospitals are installing to deter gun violence, is equipped with advanced AI sensors that can actually pinpoint the area on a person where a firearm is hidden and then display it on a security monitoring screen highlighted by a bright red box. Many experts would agree that the Evolv Express weapons detection system is the best gun detection security system available.
